No water lilies, just a rock

Upon its completion in 2002, the pool in my water garden had water lilies and some other plants.  Over the years, the shade from several trees has deepened so much that the plants don't get enough light to live.
So, out went the plants--and in went a lava rock two feet long covered with Brachythecium salebrosum moss, half-submerged in water on a platform of other rocks.  The reflection in still water, shown from both sides, is quite beautiful.

Just a start

Life has been a bit crazy lately.  Sixty-hour weeks trying to "whip the gardens into shape" make it hard for me to update my blog.  So, here are two photos of one of my many moss gardens, taken May 9th.  It was hydrated, the best time to take photos.
To make my life even busier, I will be leaving tomorrow for a week out to the Black Hills of South Dakota.  It's only a day drive west of where I live, so for me it's a short trip.  Anyhow, the next post might be delayed a bit.
